Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and trying to make Ubuntu better.
If you check the killall manpage you will see the following option: -e, --exact Require an exact match for very long names. If a command name is longer than 15 charac‐ ters, the full name may be unavailable (i.e. it is swapped out). In this case, killall will kill everything that matches within the first 15 characters. With -e, such entries are skipped. killall prints a message for each skipped entry if -v is specified in ad‐ dition to -e, So if you have a long name I'd recommend to use the --exact option. I do not believe this is a bug in the software but an expected behavior. Since this does not seem to me like a bug I'll be marking it as Invalid. However, if you disagree please add some reasonable explanation and set the bug status back to New and we will revisit it. ** Changed in: psmisc (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931802 Title: killall only matching first 15 characters of process name To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/psmisc/+bug/1931802/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
