So I finally moved to a new machine... loaded with Xubuntu 20.04.2... upgraded from my reliable machine still running Xubuntu 16.04.
While on Xubuntu 16.04, I never had any issues with Thunar and copying files either locally or involving SAMBA mounted shares. Unfortunately Xubuntu 20.04.2 still regularly "hangs" copying files with Thunar involving the SAMBA mounted shares. I would rather not install Dolphin as it is KDE based.
