There was a bug in 1.4.13 where Catfish would freeze if encountering a
pipe file. It would appear to keep searching but never return results
beyond that file and had to be forced closed.

Would you be able to run this in a terminal:

find ~ -type p

And see if anything comes up? Then if so try searching with Catfish in
the directory that the pipe file is in and see if the unresponsiveness
seems the same.

You can also try using a newer version of Catfish and see if you still
have problems:
