In my PC there is a /usr/bin/compiz script (not compiz.start).
The only thing about gconf in the script is:
# load the ccp plugin if present and fallback to plain gconf if not
if [ -f ${PLUGIN_PATH}libccp.so ]; then
COMPIZ_PLUGINS="$COMPIZ_PLUGINS ccp"
elif [ -f ${PLUGIN_PATH}libgconf.so ]; then
COMPIZ_PLUGINS="$COMPIZ_PLUGINS glib gconf"
fi
Do I have to comment out this block?
