Leann, Tested hardy-desktop-amd64 (daily 20071218) with kernel version 2.6.24-2, and the problem appears to be resolved. The laptop has been up for over 15 minutes with no "spurious completions" messages. Usually it will have 2-3 messages reported within that timeframe.
Oddly (to me) the queue_depth is at 31. I will continue checking while uptime increases, and report any further ncq issues if I see them.
