  Fully reproductable:
  
  Press 'power button' on desktop (upper right corner in default configuration).
  Choose to hibernate
  Close the laptop lid and wait for the hibernate action to take effect
  Open laptop to reach power button, press it once (like when you turn it on)
  Close lid
  Wait a few seconds (~10-20s)
  Et voila - Screen locked in 'blacker than black' state, some response from 
keyboard
- presses (ie: i have manageged to get a bell or two pressing the 
backspace/delette key)
- but otherwise an completely irresponsive system.
