Thanks for the investigation Branko. Checking the upstream issue you mentioned, it seems that the bug was introduced and fixed after the release of the version we have even in the Ubuntu development release, so I am not sure if this is the reason of your failure. Could you please try the upstream master branch to check if the issue is fixed there?
