I can confirm the problem:
 - Ubuntu 21.10 (to be released this week), Wayland session (the default),
firefox snap (the default)
 - Open tabs and browse to any website in firefox (e.g. http://example.org)
 - Press Ctrl+Alt+F3 to switch to a VT
 - Press Ctrl+Alt+F2 to switch back to your desktop session

Expected result: firefox behaves normally

Actual result: the current tab in firefox crashes and offers to report
to crash to Mozilla
