I've confirmed this using the following:
$ bsdtar -x -f impish-desktop-amd64.iso -O \./.disk/info
Ubuntu-MATE 21.10 "Impish Indri" - Daily amd64 (20211008)%
This seems like something worth release noting and is a good candidate
for an SRU.
