The comment from Brian Murray, while quite informative, does not apply to the problem I'm having. It's not my HDMI display that's freezing, but the system itself. No matter. I scrapped 21.10 and went back to 21.04. I read a suggestion that stated that it would be better to wait for version 22 to come out, since 21.10 is only being supported for the short term - 6 months. That sounds like a beta build meant for a test run of some of the new upcoming features.
Since I'm still new to Linux and only months into using Ubuntu, I'll admit that I don't understand enough about the workings of the distro to be posting bug reports. Forgive my ineptness.
