Public bug reported:

I can connect to my WPA2 PSK network using nm-applet.

With WEP I just cannot establish a connection using NetworkManager. There are
no changes made on my /etc/network/interfaces file and the connection timeouts
logging:
"Dec 22 00:58:45 orkun-laptop NetworkManager: <debug> [1198281525.998242]
real_act_stage4_ip_config_timeout(): Activation (wlan0/wireless): could not get
IP configuration info for 'Gefuehlsfledermaus', asking for new key. "

When I use

sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid Gefuehlsfledermaus key s:endoplasmatik
sudo dhclient wlan0

I get an instant connection.

When I try NetworkManager again, while being connected, the essid output
of iwconfig changes from "Gefuehlsfledermaus" to "off/any" for maybe 2
to 5 seconds and then changes back to "Gefuehlsfledermaus". This problem
pretty much sounds like: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
system-tools/+bug/67152 - but for my part I dont really see the wep key
in iwconfig, so I cannot compare ndiswrapper vs. iwconfig.

I am using ndiswrapper 1.51(latest stable) because of some threads
telling me to upgrade to 1.49 - which DID fix a bug that caused hard
locks using heavy bittorrent traffic(thanks god, that was annoying). The
driver is the Windows 98 inf because the XP version seems messy on
ubuntu.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/network$ lsusb
Bus 005 Device 004: ID 0bda:8189 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/network$ ndiswrapper -l
net8187b : driver installed
        device (0BDA:8189) present

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/network$ uname -r
2.6.22-14-generic

Apart from that i found the problem at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/baz/+bug/114605 - but this thread is
expired(I am new to launchpad, don't know what to do then).
