Thanks Hans - I had done what you suggested several times before reporting the bug. But I tried again today and found the error did not recur. kdeconnect installed without a problem. It's conceivable that there was an issue with the availability of that package in the repositories before, but the issue has now been fixed. I really don't know! Sorry to take up your time on this. I'm not sure whether to change the status on this bug report. I consider this bug closed.
