** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: inkscape

  Ubuntu: Feisty with latest updates to date (May 11, 2007)
  Inkscape Version: 0.45, built Apr. 4, 2007 (Ubuntu Feisty most recent
package) PRIMARY
  Inkscape Version: 0.45-1 (Debian unstable) SECONDARY

  -=PRIMARY=-
  The colorpicker exhibits some strange beheavior. For example:
  - canvas color = any, color picker returns "000000" alpha 0
  - canvas color = any but white, color picker + drag returns "ffffff" alpha 0,
expanding radius has no effect

  - object with solid color, color picker returns correct color most of the time
  - object with solid color, if color picker returns "000000" alpha 0 when it
shouldn't, move around the object and you will see the status switching between
"000000" alpha 0 and the actual color. With a bit of luck the status message is
correct when you stop moving.

  Other situation where color picker returns "000000" alpha 0:
  - object with gradient, 1 color, alpha 255 -> alpha 0
  - object with gradient, 2 colors, color 1 - alpha 255 => color 2 - alpha 255

  I tested both linear and radial gradient fills

  There is no difference between stroke and fill.

  -=SECONDARY=-
  To make sure this issue isn't solved in the newest available version I tried
this version.

  Issue is not resolved.
+
+
+ Impact: Color dropper does not work correctly when pixblock size is TINY.
+
+ Addressed upstream: Upstream fixed the bug by correcting the logic to
+ test for NR_PIXBLOCK_SIZE_TINY when doing operations that could lead to
+ this bug.
+
+ Fix proposed: The fix from upstream can be patched to Ubuntu's 0.45.1.
+
+ Regression potential: Low/none. Most users do not use the tiny
+ pixblock size, so there will be no change for them. For those who do
+ use this size, the dropper tool will begin to work properly.
