Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-headers-2.6.22-14-generic
Following the recent kernel update on Ubuntu 7.10
(linux-headers-2.6.22-14-generic (2.6.22-14.46) to 2.6.22-14.47), my computer
no longer will hibernate. (Suspend continues to work.) I'd had no problems
entering and exiting hibernation multiple times between reboots prior to that
update; I may be mistaken as to the cause, but the timining is exactly correct.
If I tell the computer to hibernate, it starts the process (shuts down network
devices, starts to turn off usb devices), but simply never finishes. However,
my network devices and keyboard are now locked off, but the mouse continues
work and I can start applications. I can shut down the computer at this point,
but not restart X or suspend. I can post log files if requested, but the only
error-like message I see is this:
Dec 22 11:03:33 terrydesktop kernel: [ 8916.567337] mtrr: no MTRR for
e0000000,8000000 found
That is the last system log (or any log, for that matter) message if I
do not interact with the system further, except for the "mark" messages
(I gave the computer several hours to finish last night).
** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
