Public bug reported:

Upon installing 8.04 alpha 2 I got an error saying that some package
could not be found and to install or uninstall. I clicked keep
installed. After that, I found that whenever I opened a window there is
no title bar with the x for closing it, resizing or moving it to another
part of the desktop. Also, the bar below the title bar which in Firefox
says "File Edit View... etc." covers the top bar of Gnome where I can
click on applications. I closed all programs so I could access the bar
and I tried to change the "windows" under system preferences but it gave
me the error:

Cannot start the preferences application for your
window manager

Window manager "unknown" has not registered a
configuration tool.

This did not happen for my after my initial install of Gutsy but has
from my CD install (not update install) of Hardy. Along with this I
cannot change desktops. Showing desktop does not work. This may not be
enough information and I know some users had this problem with Gutsy. I
just figured I should submit this.
