The ill2svg.pl plugin to Inkscape only supports older PS-based
Illustrator documents (before Illustrator 8 iirc). You may be trying to
use it on a newer illustrator file, whose format is not supported in
this version of Inkscape. Either try a newer version of Inkscape, or
use Illustrator to export the SVG.
