Any estimate on when / if the partial fix will get pushed as an update for gutsy? There are a lot of people out there with this who may not even know about it, and the clock is ticking.
I could make a utility in python that would check for the issue, then change settings if the problem is present, then apply the fix, check to make sure it worked, apply the other setting if not, check to make sure that worked. Either way, it would save the settings, and not try again unless the HD has been moved to a new machine, and/or the HD has been replaced. I'm not so familiar with packaging, though I might be able to learn, if I have time. I don't know if a python 'daemon' would be desirable, anywho. But it would just take too much of my time to do that in C++... -- High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/59695 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
