@marianne:  I am using the cutting edge Kubuntu "Hardy Heron" (v8.04)
repositories in my sources.list.

Here is how I installed fusion-icon:

$ sudo aptitude install fusion-icon

"Fusion-icon" replaces the old command "beryl-manager" that existed
before compiz-fusion. Both are very handy tray icons.
