This bit looks interesting:

Also, that is followed by things like this for a wide variety of devices:
nm_hal_device_removed(): Device removed (hal udi is 
'/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device
_3f0_171d_noserial_if0').

This
NetworkManager: <info>  SWITCH: no current connection, found better connection 
'wlan0'.
occurred exactly 40 seconds after resume last time I tried it.  Also, 
network-manager deactivates wlan0 first thing after waking up, according to the 
logs.
