Nope, they’re active, but they do nothing after applying.

The only way I could get around it is to set right-handed and mess with
my ButtonOrder in xorg.conf — oh, in fact, left-handed and reversed
ButtonOrder means right-handed as it should, just the normal way of
doing things doesn’t work (which is setting left-handed, and leaving
ButtonOrder intact at the default "1 2 3").
