A local change in my /etc/grub.d/10_linux seems to be the problem:
10_linux:316: devicetree ${rel_dirname}/${dtb}
** Changed in: u-boot (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Fix Released
** Changed in: u-boot (Ubuntu)
Status: Fix Released => Invalid
