Note that if nvidia_drm is starting so late then plymouth won't display in that case. Because Plymouth prioritises DRM and won't fall back to any other options (hence won't display anything!) unless boot takes longer than 8 seconds. It's related to https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/issues/103 despite us now using a different kernel driver.
I've been thinking for years that we should just go straight to efifb instead (see bug 1869655). ** Bug watch added: gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/issues #103 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/issues/103 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958488 Title: [nvidia][xorg] display hangs on boot LOGO due to race of gdm and nvidia driver probe To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1958488/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
