Can confirm this issue is still present in bash 5.1-6ubuntu1 on Ubuntu Jammy ( http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/jammy/en/man1/bash.1.html#invocation ). It has been discovered and reported by various people over the years (see the attached bug watch for a corresponding Debian report), so I'm trying to gather the duplicates in one place her.
