Public bug reported:

The Mono package in Ubuntu 22.04 is Mono 6.8, which is the same version
as in Ubuntu 20.04. The latest Mono is 6.12 which came out in 2020.

The software I use depends on Mono 6.12. In Ubuntu 20.04 I had to use a
third-party repository. With Ubuntu 22.04 this really shouldn't be a
problem, Mono 6.12 came out ages ago and it's very stable, it belongs in
the stable LTS release.

Why hasn't Ubuntu updated their Mono package in all this time? It would
be nice to have the latest version available without using a third-party
repository, but Ubuntu 22.04's version is severely outdated.

** Affects: mono (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
