I launched gnome-text-editor and confirmed that it correctly displayed a
range of text files.

After enabling -proposed I upgraded gnome-text-editor to version
42.1-0ubuntu1 and opened various files with extensions such as .json,
.h, .bashrc, .cfg and .txt. All files were shown as expected.

I also changed several settings in 'Preferences' to check that any
changes were working as intended.
