Not having the control would have disguised the problem for me. It wasn't only with touch te clicu. There were a number of other similar issues in other controls. Maybe I don't understand your solution, so it seems to me the solution that you don't allow synaptic and libinput to be installed simultaneously is better, but I don,t have the expertise to suggest how you flag that problem.
