I agree with Andreas, I mentioned the Bug at german ubuntu board
http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/135499/

VPNC started from root terminal works fine but the nm-applet hangs.

My dmesg log:

If I start Internet-VPNC connection Manager I get:
Kindprozess »nm-vpn-properties« konnte nicht ausgeführt werden (No such file or
directory)

I recognized, that vpnc-disconnect doesn't work, too.
There is a IMHO a bug in this script because Id has to mean /var/run/vpnc.pid
(DOT) so the PID couldn't be found.

I start the nm-applet via /usr/lib/network-manager-vpnc/nm-vpnc-service
After choosing my VPNC Connection I get:
** Message: <information> vpnc started with pid 24907

/usr/sbin/vpnc: warning: unknown configuration directive in stdin at line 2
/usr/sbin/vpnc: warning: unknown configuration directive in stdin at line 3
/usr/sbin/vpnc: warning: unknown configuration directive in stdin at line 9
/usr/sbin/vpnc: peer selected (single) DES as "encrytion" method.
This algorithm is considered to weak today
If your vpn concentrator admin still insists on using DES
use the "--enable-1des" option.

** (process:24871): WARNING **: <WARNING> vpnc_watch_cb (): vpnc exited with
error code 1

Would be realy nice If somebody would pay attention to this because I
don't like the precompiled Cisco Client (no I haven't installed one ;-)
