This give me a supra-realistic method to have 3D : booting, logging in,
manualy change configuration, restart graphical interface, manualy
change configuration.

** Attachment added: "replacement file on ymulleneers'computer"
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11104280/Document%201%20non%20enregistr%C3%A9

** Description changed:

+ I use Ubuntu 7.10 Gusty Gibbon.
+
I modified the /etc/X11/xorg.conf in order to obtain the 3D
acceleration. this opération is simply to replace "nv" by "nvidia" in
the section below (I will joint the entire bugged "xorg.conf".

  Section "Device"
Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500]"
      Driver "nvidia"
      BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
  EndSection

I restart the graphical interface and the 3D is ready
(cntl+alt+backspace). I reboot and the file is changed without any
  notification.

The remplacement file cannot be used because :

  * there is no special keys in the belgian keyborad (AltGr)
  * there is no TTD1-6 (console screen acceded by cntl+alt+F1)
  * the resolution is small (800x600 instead of 1280x1024)
  * the screen flicks

I will not try any further...
