Public bug reported:

This is a request to add OpenVPN support.

Ubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, and Ubuntu Budgie install these by default:
http://www.cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-mate/daily-live/current/noble-desktop-amd64.manifest

According to the above manifests, and installing it via the Xubuntu
noble daily ISO it seems to install the following packages:

libpkcs11-helper1:amd64
network-manager-openvpn
network-manager-openvpn-gnome
openvpn

---

Currently the only VPN protocol in Xubuntu is PPTP, but PPTP is now
considered obsolete and many VPN services (as well as Apple Mac and iOS)
have dropped/removed support for PPTP due to security issues. So OpenVPN
has become the more widely used standard.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point-to-Point_Tunneling_Protocol#Security

I don't know how package deprecation works or if it can be done, but
just wanted to bring the security issue up in case something needs to be
done in that regard.

Thanks!
