I may have the same bug:

   [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ blender
   guessing 'blender-bin' == '/usr/bin/blender-bin'
   Compiled with Python version 2.5.1.
   Checking for installed Python... got it!
   Segmentation fault (core dumped)

This happens every time I try to launch blender.
This is the version i'm using:

   [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ blender -v
   guessing 'blender-bin' == '/usr/bin/blender-bin'
   Blender 2.44 (sub 0) Build

I'm running up to date 32bit gutsy on an IBM Thinkpad X31
Hopefully this will help someone to fix this and help me + others get on with
our 3d modelling.
Thanks.
