Well here i attach the configuration file. It did the same when i did
not have any (used note from the xrandr howto, try to start with no
configruation file), then i generated one with the reconfigure command,
maybe did some light modification. However i made the restarting problem
was the same. The only experiment i made was to use radeon instead ati
driver in the device section. Xrandr configuration was working, but the
restarts keep being there and the slowness was extremely high. Every
window rendering kept 100 percent of CPU and several seconds. SO i came
beck to the ati driver string in the device section.

** Attachment added: "current x configuration"

** Summary changed:

- Xserver crashes/restarts ati+xv+xrand+twoMonitors
+ Xserver crashes/restarts ati+xv+xrandr

** Description changed:

It seems similar to another two bugs here, but the answers does not look
to satisfying. I let update the dist. recently to gutsy, with the ati
driver supporting xrandr. There is no note (at least i did not notice)
about it in system log or xorg log. The Xorg restarts while playing
video, no matter if i use one or two monitors (i use the xrandr --auto
command just to enable the other output).

  i use xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.7.195-1ubuntu2

If i use another output module for video playback it does not restarts,
but needs so much processor time that it is unusable. It is also very
hardly usable when use the two monitor output due the processor time
load (with the old driver and dual monitor setup it was significantly
better), but it is another issue. The restart does not come immediately
when starts playback (that is the difference from another bugs reported
here - from those i read). Sometimes it starts immediately, sometimes
after few minutes playing, or change of focus between various
application windows running simulateously. I am not so experienced so i
am not sure how to set up some debug mode of the driver or anything
  else.
