Same problem: long timeout, displayed complaint about CIFS (dont have the exact
one here) then the system shuts down. I'll be looking into the suggested fixes,
thanks for those DrCore, Philippe Clérié, Dmik et al!
And good luck (and happy new year ;) to all the dev's and users who keep on
working to make ubuntu perfect!
