If cpufreq-detect.sh detects acpi-cpufreq for MODULE_FALLBACK, it should get
loaded in the init script:
. /usr/share/powernowd/cpufreq-detect.sh
[ ! -z "$MODULE" ] && (modprobe "$MODULE"||modprobe
"$MODULE_FALLBACK")
Do you have set FREQDRIVER in /etc/default/powernowd maybe?
Please investigate the /etc/init.d/powernowd script to find out where and why
it fails.
