Thanks for reporting this bug and helping making Ubuntu better. From
your logs, I see
mysqld: Can't read dir of '/etc/mysql/conf.d/' (OS errno 2 - No such
file or directory)
Have you explicitly removed that directory? Also, do you have mysql-
common installed?
Since this seems to be a configuration issue or unsupported use case
(configuration directory removed?), I am marking this bug as incomplete
for now. Please, provide the requested information and move this bug
status back to new once the information is provided.
