Hi there.
Just checking back at the date I posted this and it was quite some time
ago. Since then I have installed Ubuntu several times in various
flavours and have never managed to reproduce what happened, so I think
it might be OK to close the request. Thanks for getting back to me
though as it shows that someone listens.
