Public bug reported: I am using ATA-over-Ethernet (aoe kernel module), but my root partition is local. Still, the "aoe"-hook script of initramfs-tools will be triggered, calling "configure_networking", which fails indefinitely to get an IP-address from DHCP on my unconnected ethernet device.
initramfs-tools should detect that my root partition is local and not try to bring up the network before mounting the root partition. Note that this bug may lock people out of their operating system!
