Could you supply the release feisty,gutsy or number 7.04, 7.10 etc.
Can you list the commands/procedures you used to upgrade
Did you perform all available upgrades (i.e. all pacakges) or only a few
Can you edit the System->Admin menu and do the following
Edit the System Monitor Entry
Is the Name Field Populated
Look at the Icon Window, does it contain the System Monitor Icon
If you are unsuccessful in the above, then
Can you edit the System->Admin menu and try to manually add
gnome-system-monitor to it
If you are unsuccessful in the above, then
Can you add anything to the System->Admin menu
