Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: compiz
7.10-amd64
nvidia graphics card
When I went to enable desktop effects in the appearance dialogue, it
didn't work. I then tried running compiz manually and received the
following error:
No whitelisted driver found
aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity
I've installed the restricted driver, so I know it's there. I opened up
the compiz script and eventually figured out that this line breaks on
64-bit installations:
XORG_DRIVER_PATH="/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/+"
It ought to read
XORG_DRIVER_PATH="/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/+"
The relevant Xorg logfile line reads
(II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so
So "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/+" ... won't report the correct
driver.
