I've seen this same issue a few times as well.  I never noticed that it doesn't 
happen on the very first login though, that is interesting info for 
troubleshooting for sure.  Maybe a misconfiguration is being pulled over with 
the skel files when establishing the profile for the first time that's causing 
the issue?
I have also noticed that, once you have logged in once and xfce4 session 
crashes, so you then are forced to login again, after that the problem doesn't 
reappear until the machine is rebooted.  I've also set up a test user account 
and confirmed that user account has the same issue -> login, crash, login again 
and is successful.  Also, once the crash happens and you login again 
successfully, you can then logout and back in w/o the issue occurring again.  
It happens on both of the profiles/accounts I have setup on this machine.  Both 
accounts are administrator level on Xubuntu 24.04.
