Thanks for the report, and sorry for the delayed reply here.
We've indeed updated the 'firefox' deb package in newer Ubuntu releases
to not ship a firefox.desktop file anymore. I don't think we could
safely backport the change to Ubuntu 22.04 however, and as such I'm
updating this bug's metadata accordingly.
