When you enable kdm you never can see the splash screen, and you see a
message suggesting not starting session as a privileged user. In the
message you can use save or quit, anyway you can type in the shell user
and password and startx. Before doing this, i had to delete vga=792 from
/boot/grub/menu.lst, if i do not do that i only can start in recovery
mode, because not in recovery mode start hungs with a black screen and
blank cursor at the top left corner. Everything is ok with gdm and
vga=792 deleted.
