Problem is: All Kodi installations on Ubuntu 24.04 are broken by now, because Ubuntu ships Python 3.12. But the Kodi developers seem to have decided to not fix the bug, because it affects Kodi 20.x (Nexus) which is obsolete in their eyes. They are now developing Kodi 21 (Omega), see https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/24069#issuecomment-2088125782
Btw. Debian Bookworm is _not_ affected, because they still ship Python 3.11 which does not trigger the bug, see https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/python3 So this bug is currently some kind of specific to Ubuntu and if it isn't fixed here, it seems that it won't be fixed at all. ** Bug watch added: github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues #24069 https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/24069 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063358 Title: Kodi from Debian (20.5) crashes when running addons due to Python 3.12 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kodi/+bug/2063358/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
