Public bug reported: I have an Ubuntu Pro subscription that is configured to autorenew annually. Yet, a few weeks before the current subscription ends the pro client and apt notifications start showing the following notification:
# CAUTION: Your Ubuntu Pro subscription will expire in 10 days. # Renew your subscription at https://ubuntu.com/pro/dashboard to ensure # continued security coverage for your applications. This is confusing because when autorenewal is enabled the expectation is that the renewal should be a seamless process that ensures continued coverage. It also creates uncertainty as to whether the autorenewal is correctly configured. Instead, the client and apt notifications should display a different message when autorenewal is enabled to indicate that the subscription will renew, e.g. something like: # NOTICE: Your annual Ubuntu Pro subscription will renew automatically on DATE. # You can check your subscription status at https://ubuntu.com/pro/dashboard Another suggestion is to process the autorenewal before the expiration date (e.g. 1 or 2 weeks prior). This would provide some safety net for payment processing errors (e.g. due to an expired credit card) and help to ensure continued coverage. ** Affects: ubuntu-advantage-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2073921 Title: Ubuntu pro should not warn that subscription will expire when autorenewal is enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-advantage-tools/+bug/2073921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
