Today I upgraded my Hardy installation and it upgraded 2.6.22-14-generic
kernel to 2.6.24-2-386 and my wireless network stopped working.

No wonder... There is no ipw2200 firmware for 2.6.24-2-386 only for
2.6.24-2-generic
