I have just a couple comments about this. I think it would be great to have a more informative share gui. It can be very simple and have the ability to share will everyone (ie. no user or pass needed) just like windows xp when you just enable file sharing.
Then it can have a users tab for specific system or new smb users to be added per share. I believe for the new users coming into the linux world that choose ubuntu this could be one of the reasons why they go ubuntu over the other distros.
