Public bug reported: Running Xubuntu 24.04, and wanting GNOME Software Center for ease of use, I noticed it was light, while the rest of the desktop was dark.
Some investigation later showed that Xubuntu is missing a configuration file for xdg-desktop-portal that makes it use the xdg-desktop-portal-gtk backend. This file was added to upstream xfce4-session in 4.18.4: https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-session/-/merge_requests/47 (The cause seems to be that libadwaita's fallback to gsettings doesn't occur once it's started trying xdg-desktop-portal.) It would be useful to backport this file, or upgrade to 4.18.4, for better interoperability with libadwaita-based programs. See also the resolved https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1050802 for context from @smcv who works on xdg- desktop-portal. ** Affects: xfce4-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2076999 Title: GNOME Software Center doesn't honor XFCE dark mode, because xdg- desktop-portal needs configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-session/+bug/2076999/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
