Public bug reported:
I ran gdm-settings on a clean Ubuntu 24.04 install earlier this year and
changed 3 settings from the default:
1. set a background image
2. changed the time in the top bar to AM/PM
3. disabled the user list
After running updates and rebooting last week I noticed the background image
was gone. I ran gdm-settings and verified that all 3 settings were still set
the way I wanted. I hit apply and then rebooted. The background was back, but
the time was in 24h (I didn't really pay attention to if it was right or wrong
before) and the user list was showing. I have run gdm-settings numerous times
since then, but nothing I change will reflect on the gdm screen.
Looking at apt history log, I'm guessing it might be caused by one of:
gnome-initial-setup:amd64 (46.0-1ubuntu6, 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.1)
gnome-shell:amd64 (46.0-0ubuntu5.1, 46.0-0ubuntu6~24.04.3)
gnome-shell-common:amd64 (46.0-0ubuntu5.1, 46.0-0ubuntu6~24.04.3)
gnome-shell-extension-prefs:amd64 (46.0-0ubuntu5.1, 46.0-0ubuntu6~24.04.3)
