Indeed. Thanks! I don't think it's appropriate to commit to such a
change in Ubuntu's stable releases without this question resolved.

I'm not aware of any reason that cqrlog shouldn't be able to be
compatibility with both MySQL and MariaDB, and it's surprising to me
that it isn't. This could even be trivial to fix.
