I tried to upgrade from Kubuntu 22.04 to 24.04.1. The process hung
producing many copies of the following error messages.

No MATLAB installation found

No MATLAB executables were found in the directories you specified.

This package requires at least one local installation of MATLAB.

Redundant argument in sprintf at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Element/Noninteractive/Error.pm line 54, <GEN225> line

I aborted the upgrade and fortunately I was able to get back in to
Kunbuntu. I ]uninstalled matlab-support and restarted the dist-upgrade.
Every thing went OK. Subsequently reinstalling matlab-support worked OK.
