I believe that is due to the machine missing an Nvidia driver AND running an older kernel that may not support the current GPU. Although if you have successfully updated the kernel already then it should be 6.8 which is new enough.
To avoid reinstalling (a newer) Ubuntu, you can try accessing the grub boot menu by tapping Escape before the OS loads. Once in the menu you will be able to select a safe/recovery mode. If you can get that to boot then please run: journalctl -b-1 > prevboot1.txt journalctl -b-2 > prevboot2.txt and attach the resulting text files here. Otherwise please install Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2078814 Title: [Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9] I cannot change or control backlight brightness To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-6.2/+bug/2078814/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
